Santa's Plans Apron

$15.00

Some Christmas plans are best made with a little room for magic—and a good place to keep the cookies.

There is a particular kind of Christmas morning that begins at the front door. The house is warm, the tree is glowing, something wonderful is simmering in the kitchen, and before anyone has even taken off their coat, Grandma is already smiling because she knows exactly what comes next: Come on in.

Santa’s Plans was made for that kind of Christmas.

Its cheerful red and deep green patchwork feels wonderfully old-fashioned, like a favorite Christmas story brought out year after year. The apron is filled with nostalgic holiday scenes—Santa with his Christmas train, snowy woods, toys, trees, and little woodland characters—while the brilliant blue binding gives the whole thing a wonderfully unexpected spark. And that pocket! Santa himself is settling into his rocking chair beside the Christmas tree, boots on the hearth and a fire glowing nearby. It is the sort of pocket that makes you want to tuck away a recipe, a wooden spoon, or perhaps a secret Christmas surprise.

Santa’s Plans is a full-coverage crossbody apron with a distinctive crisscross back and generous front coverage. Rich red fabric alternates with a tiny patterned Christmas green, while illustrated holiday panels bring Santa, snowy landscapes, toys, trees, and woodland scenes into the design. Bright royal-blue binding outlines the neckline, curved side openings, crossed straps, pocket, and lower edge, giving the traditional Christmas palette a lively vintage twist. The large curved front pocket features Santa relaxing beside the Christmas tree and fireplace—a little Christmas scene all its own. It is festive without being fussy, nostalgic without feeling precious, and wonderfully suited to the person who intends to spend Christmas doing what matters most: making the people she loves feel at home.

Wear Santa’s Plans while you're baking the Christmas cookies, setting the holiday table, wrapping the last few presents, or standing at the door waiting for the family to arrive. It is sturdy enough for kitchen work and special enough for Christmas entertaining—and because it is a one-of-a-kind handmade apron, once this Santa makes his plans, there won't be another one quite like him.

Made for Christmas kitchens, family gatherings, and the grandmother who always seems to have room for one more.

From the Mercantile

Mrs. Claus would understand Santa’s Plans perfectly.

At the Mercantile, we imagine this apron belongs to the grandmother who has been quietly preparing for Christmas since sometime around Halloween. She has a list.

She has a second list because one year she lost her list and she's not about to take any chances.

She has cookies cooling on the counter, something wonderful in the oven, and a tin of fudge hidden somewhere the grandchildren haven't discovered—yet.

When the doorbell rings, she wipes her hands on the nearest towel, straightens her apron, and opens the door with the biggest smile in the house.

“Well, look who's here! Come on in, everybody.”

And just like that, Christmas has begun.
